Just a quick post to say...

WE DID IT!

Melbourne Storm - No Ordinary Team, No Ordinary Journey, No Ordinary Premiers!

Huge congratulations to all the players, Craig Bellamy and the assistant coaches for proving we truly are the best in the league.

It's a good day to be a Storm fan!
See you next week for some off season chit-chat.

Lots of love,

There ain't no party like a GRAND FINAL party!

Hey y'all.

That's right. We're in Southern America now.

ALL RIGHT YOU CAUGHT ME. I forgot to do a semi-finals post. No one's reading this anyway. I let myself off. We shall never speak of this again.

Now that lame excuse of an apology is out of the way, MELBOURNE STORM ARE IN THE GRAND FINAL! LET'S PARTY LIKE WE DECIDED TO HAVE BOTH KINDS OF TACOS FOR DINNER!

Yes, as you should have been able to tell, I'm very happy about that. The Prelims were pretty unmissable last weekend. Storm absolutely blew me away on Friday night when they went up against Manly Seagulls (evil laugh) in an absolutely packed AAMI Parks - good work Storm fans. Honestly, I was pretty anxious about that contest. The Storm/Manly rivalry can be pretty tense, and at kick-off I thought anything could happen - it turns out a 40-12 win was that thing. It was an amazing match and the whole team deserve a pat on the back, kisses and cuddles (in a completely non-stalkerish way).

Sooo to be honest after that match, I was barely paying attention when I watched the Bunnies and the Bulldogs have it out on Saturday night. It was another unsure contest for me, though if I had to place a bet it would have been on the Bulldogs. They too had a big win of 32-8 after the Bunnies made mistake after mistake.

So, Doggies vs. Storm. Who will take home the big one on Sunday night? I don't want to tempt fate, so I'll just say I'll be decking the house out in Purple Pride on Sunday. Win or lose, its been a hell of a season.

In case you live under a rock, the Grand Final kicks off on Sunday at 5.45pm, airing live on Channel 9 for NSW and QLD, and GEM in VIC and everywhere else. It airs on Fox Sports after the game if you happen to miss it!

Have a great weekend and I'll be back to talk about the final result next week! (Depending on whether I'm sulking or not >.<)

Smell you later!

Gotta love finals week!

G'day Rugby League fans and curious users of the internet!

Let's make this like an AA meeting. Hello, I'm 'Storm Girl' and I'm addicted to Rugby League.

This blog is basically a way to get out my thoughts and opinions on the game, on and off season. Though I can be a little biased sometimes, (all the time), I think you'll come to appreciate what I have to say. And let's face it, the NRL world could do with some girlification (I am not satisfied just by the fact that the refs wear pink. It only emphasises how red their faces can get when they make all the wrong calls.)

So, what better week to start my blogging frenzy than following Finals Week 1! Needless to say, I got all my tips right ;)

The weekend started off with an expected win by the Bulldogs against Manly, which needless to say I was very pleased with. Other than the fact that the Bulldogs played very well, I was more satisfied by watching the smirks wiped off the faces of the Stewart brothers, or as I prefer to call them, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. And I'm not particularly keen on Cherry-Evans either. Someone needs to tell him. He has a punchable enough face as it is, acting so cocky all the time is not helping his case. And let's face it, Cooper Cronk is the best halfback in this competition.

That match was followed by an even better one when South Sydney Rabbitohs came to pay the Melbourne Storm a visit on Saturday night. Although we had a good couple of wins towards the end of the season, I think Storm fans were all pleasantly surprised with the boys' performance. Both sides were fired up, but it so happened that the excitement lead to opportunity for Melbourne Storm to get some well-deserved points on the board, and unfortunately mistake after mistake from the Bunnies. It looked to be a scoreless game for them until the 70th minute, when they finally managed to get a try.

League fans didn't have long to wait for the next match to come along, as up next was the first elimination final of 2012. We said goodbye to the Brisbane Broncos when they were defeated by the Cowboys on Saturday night. The Broncos are a good side, but State of Origin hit the players hard with injuries and exhaustion, and they haven't been the same since. The Cowboys played well, and will go against Manly on Friday night.

The second elimination final featured the Raiders and the Sharks, and despite how much Gallen complained to the referee (with the same attitude as a spoilt 14 year old girl), the Sharks just couldn't catch a break against the home side. Canberra had an outstanding match, and will go against South Sydney on Saturday.

In case you missed the scores (WHERE WERE YOU?!?!), here they are:

16 BULLDOGS - MANLY 10
24 STORM - SOUTH SYDNEY 6
33 COWBOYS - BRONCOS 16
34 RAIDERS - SHARKS 16

And again the line-up for this weekends Elimination Finals:

MANLY vs. COWBOYS - Saturday, 7.45pm Kick-off
SOUTH SYDNEY vs. RAIDERS - Sunday, 7.45pm Kick-off

The winners of these matches will go on to the Preliminary Finals alongside Melbourne Storm and Canterbury Bulldogs.

Stay fabulous,
Storm Girl
